We are coming together for a time of Prayer & Fasting to lift up the name of Jesus in response to all the occult activities happening on October 31st in the US.
Is there a connection between “Hallowed” and the word HALLOWEEN 😳
The word “Hallow” means to honor as holy, to sanctify, or to revere. In relation to Halloween, it is derived from the term “All Hallows’ Eve”, which refers to the evening before All Hallows’ Day (also known as All Saints’ Day) on November 1st.
Here’s how the word “Hallow” connects to Halloween:
- All Hallows’ Eve: This is the original name for Halloween. “Hallow” refers to saints or holy people, and “eve” refers to the evening before. So, All Hallows’ Eve is the night before the day dedicated to honoring all saints and martyrs in Christian tradition.
- Hallowed: The word itself suggests something sacred or revered, aligning with the religious significance of All Saints’ Day, which celebrates the saints who are considered “hallowed” or holy.
Over time, the traditions of All Hallows’ Eve evolved and merged with older pagan harvest festivals, such as the ancient Celtic festival Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and a time when people believed the boundaries between the living and the dead were thin. This blending of traditions led to the modern, secular version of Halloween, which includes costumes, trick-or-treating, and spooky themes.
